About Savitribai Phule Mahila Ekatma Samaj Mandal
Founded in 1994 as a branch of the renowned Health Organization of Central Maharashtra, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vaidyakiya Pratishthan’s Dr. Hedgewar Hospital, the Savitribai Phule Mahila Ekatma Samaj Mandal (SPMESM) has evolved into a respected nonprofit in Maharashtra. While Dr. Hedgewar Hospital aimed to offer quality medical services affordably, SPMESM’s focus extends beyond healthcare. It addresses the underlying causes of health issues like poverty, unemployment, social injustice, gender inequalities, agrarian crises, and climate change effects. This involves extensive engagement with vulnerable communities in urban slums and remote rural areas to create meaningful change.
SPMESM's Impactful Initiatives
SPMESM, with almost three decades of experience, is renowned for its impactful developmental projects. With 90 initiatives spanning health, education, skill development, and more, it reaches over 900 villages and 80 slums across two cities. Its strong community connection, supported by committed volunteers, is integral to its success. Operating with transparency and a democratic structure, SPMESM ensures effective project management, resulting in notable social impacts. It stands out as one of the few NGOs with ISO certification and a functional Quality Management System, collaborating with various social organizations and corporate groups to drive positive change.
